CENTRAL OTAGO A. & P. ASSOCIATION.

TWENTY-FIRST ANNUAL SHOW. Glorious wo;*!; or prevailed for the 21st annual show of the Central Otago A. and P. Assoc ation, which was field at Omakau on Friday, and in consequence there was a largo attendance of the public, the whole district being well represented. The entries were in keeping with those received for previous shows, with the exception that tncrc was only a limited number of cattle penned. Xhc horse and sheep classes brought forward representative lots, the quality of each being good. -Mr *L Wilson was the most successful exhibitor of sheep, anti a majority of the entries in the various sections were owned by him. The association is fortunate in having such an enthusiastic breeder of sheep in the dsitrict. 'dr Wilson also won a number of prizes in the horse classes with some very fine animals. The competitions attracted fair entries, and hackney horses were well represented. There was keen competition among the lady exhibitors in the domestic produce classes, and the prizes were well distributed. This show is capable of being extended in many ways, and seeing that the association lias been in existence for over two decades the time should bo opportune for members to consider hte advisablcness of malt ng the annual gathering more attractive, thereby inducing farmers to exhibit more largely than they do now. The various officials, including the secretary, worked well, but the latter hardly realised the importance of keeping tlie press representatives posted with all the information necessary for the compilation of an adequate report of the proceedings. The judging was concluded shortly after 6 p.m., when a large proportion of those present repaired to Omakau, where a concert and dance was held in the evening, and served as a fitting termination to a good day’s outing. Mr J. Craig, inspector for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, paid a surprise visit to the show, but found nothing to which exception could be taken.
