HIGH SCHOOLS BOARD OF GOVERNORS. The monthly meeting of the Otago Higli Schools’ Board of Governors was held on the 20th hist., and attended by the Hon. T. Fergus (chairman), Messrs Callaway, Israel, and Ross. Mr Kirkpatrick reported that the revised rents for the Strath-Taieri runs had been fixed as follows, commencing March 1, 1914; —Run 205 0,6 d per acre; 206 c, 7d ; 213 a 5J,d ; 2150 6d. —The report wai received. An application was received from Messrs Murray and Roberts to have the term of their new lease extended to 21 years instead of 14 years. —The chairman said the board’s solicitors advised that this could not be done. —The application was declined. A report was received from Mr Kirkpatrick on the subject of the township of Arden being flooded, through the overflowing of a creek on one of the board’s reserves. —It was decided before anything was done that the opinion of the board’s solicitors be obtained as to the board’s position in this matter. An application by Mr John O’Conncdl to have the rent of the plantation reserve held by him under lease from the board reduced was declined. Mrs Irvine wrote asking for permission to sub-lease portion of section 4, block 5, town of Oamaru, to Mr Sherwin.— Approved on the usual conditions.
