MURDER OF FRENCH PLANTER

SY r DNEY, October 29.

Additional information has been received concerning the murder of a French planter named Guitel on the island of Epi, in the New Hebrides, by four natives in August.

It now appears that Guitel and another Frenchman were the aggressors. They attacked three natives, and Guitel twisted the neck of one native under his arm. The native in the struggle wounded Guitel with a knife, injuring him fatally. The three natives gave themselves up. One of them was charged with wounding with intent, and died in prison, apparently from the effects of poison.
