GIPSY TRIBES’ BRAWL

MADRID, October 20.

There was a pitched battle at Marcilla between rival gipsy tribes over the profits on the sale of some mules and donkeys. Both men and women participated, but onlookers wisely refrained from interfering.

The knife play and agility displayed were remarkable. Two were killed and nine wounded. After half an hour’s battle the Civil Guard appeared, and charged the fighters with fixed bayonets, stopping the fight, and arresting 20 men and 15 women.
