SMALLPOX EPIDEMIC
SYDNEY, October 21. Six cases of smallpox were reported today. October 22. Three cases of smallpox were reported to-day. October 23. Nearly 1000 people attended a meeting at the Town Hall, and passed a resolution protesting against the continuance of the quarantine embargo on Sydney. Six cases of smallpox were reported today. October 24. Three cases of smallpox were reported to-day. October 26. One case of smallpox was reported on Saturday and two to-day. A case has also occurred at Tumut. October 27. Six cases of smallpox were reported today. MELBOURNE, October 22. In Ahe Federal House of Representatives the Prime Minister (Mr Cook) promised the appointment of a commission to inquire into the smallpox epidemic. He declared that the question of grappling with the disease could no longer be left in the hands of the New South Wales Board of Health.
