EXPLOSION AND FIRE

NEW YORK, October 25. A gas annealing oven in a six-storey factory exploded, and killed four of the employees and injured a score. A fire followed the explosion. Many people are missing. Searchlights were played on thq ruins ■when the fire was extinguished in the hope of recovering bodies. Several employees with their clothing ablaze climbed out of the fire-swept windows and got down the fire escapes to the aide walks, where the spectators beat out the fire from their clothing.
