COLONIAL MUTUAL CASE,

MELBOURNE, October 22.

In reply to a question as to what step* the Government proposed to take in coanection with the recent inquiry into tha position of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society, the Victorian State Premier (Mr Watt) intimated that th» Attorney-general had directed that steps should be taken with a view to the proeecution of the petitioners. The Government, he added, did not consider it wise to ask Parliament to pass a resolution endorsing the re2Jort of the inspectors. The cost of the inquiry was £3OIO, which will be borne by the Government.
