THE FAR SOUTH
CAPTAIN SCOTT'S PLANS. SYDNEY, April 13. Captain Scott, in a letter received by the Attorney-general, dated October 31, says he is hopeful of winning the Pole. "In the end we shall have a mass of material which will repay all the outlay of the expedition, judged by scientific standards, but we can scarcely be contented with that, and we hope to have cause to rejoice over something which appeals more largely to the sentiment of our race."
