A MYSTERIOUS MURDER

MELBOURNE, April 9. A mysterious murder case is at present engaging the attention of the police. Two brothers named William and Frederick Parker were proceeding home last night after a family Teunion, and they stopped at an hotel. They afterwards fought outside the hotel, and William knocked Frederick down and severely kicked him. He then ran away. Frederick Parker arose and went off in the opposite direction. Soon afterwards William Parker staggered back to the hotel with a gaping wound in his throat. He was taken to the hospital, and in reply to questions by the police refused to say who cut his throat. He only said that if they arrested his brother they would be taking the wrong man. He died a couple of hours later. Frederick Parker disappeared, but this afternoon he surrendered to the police. His clothes were blood-stained. He says he was drunk last night. He remembers the fighting, but forgets what followed. He has been charged with committing the murder.
