FIRE BRIGADE SPORTS.
DANNEVIRKE, April 8. The first demonstration held under the auspices of tho United Districts Fire Brigades' Association was commenced here on .Saturday and was continued to-day in dry but windy weather. There wa.s a largo gathering of spectators, and 200 firemen competed. The following are the reOOIL COUPLING CHAMPIONSHIP (One Man).— Wanganui (58 5-Bsec) 1, Napier (58 4-ssec) 2, Dannevirke (59 2-ssec) 3. Wanganui won in running off the tie. HOSE HYDRANT UNION (Three Men.) - Dannevirke (33 4-ssec) 1, Napier Railway (36 2-ssec) 2. Napier Citv (37jsec) 3. COUPLING (Two Men).—Napier B (34 4-ssec) 1, Wanganui (34 4-ssec) 2, Napier A. (37sec) 3. In the run-off Napier won. HOSE HYDRANT UNION (Five Men). —Dannevirke (34 l-S'-ec) 1, Wanganui (35 3-s.ee) 2. Spit '37 4-ssec) 3. RESCUE (Two Men). -Napier (23,ee) 1. Wanganui B (25 l-ssec) 2. Wanganui A (27 4-ssec) 3. HOSE REEL. FLAT LADDER (Five Men). Wanganui (59 l-ssec) 1. Napier (59 3-ssec) 2. Dannevirke (60-ec) 3. LADDER RACE (One Man).- Napier (7 l-ssee) 1.
