The cases had 1 been roughly handled, nnd were pierced in several places by the hooks used in handling cargo, to tbe detriment of tho contents. One of tho applicants for the i>o=ilion of town clerk at Eltham, after explaining that he was of sound constitution, went on to say- that he was unmarried, but if rnarriago was a sine qua non for the position ho would undertako to enter tho bonds of matrimony, or words to that effect.
