There were 290 prisoners in the Auckland Gaol a>t tho eml of last week. These included 263 serving various terms of imprisonment with hard labour. 10 awaiting trial, four on remand, and three life pri-sonc-rs. During tho week 40 were received, and! 44 discharged.
