APPOINTMENT OF A VICAR.

GHEISTCHURCH, March 27. There has been considerable controversy lately over the appointment of a vicar U> the new parochial district of St. Albana East, and a soction of the oongregatiou carried a strong resolution protesting against the appointment of the Rev. J. L. Mortimer, on the ground tliat he is a Ritualist. The position is a peculiar one, in that a parish has the right to take part in the selection of a vicar, whereas an appointment to a parochial district ia entirely in the hands of the bshop. Bishop Julius has now replied to the r»r'te6t, stating that ho has no intention t$ reconsidering his action. The bishop adds that people would "serve the Church better by according loyal support to the vicar than by stirring up strife and making idle protest*."
