Mr P. Foster mentioned at the last mooting of the .South Canterbury Acclimatisation Society on the 15th that there used to be largo quantities of quail on the lower Opihi, but unsportsmanlike people had shot them out. notwithstanding that they were protected. .Mr Aspinall said that quail nested in his garden at Temuka. There were four nests in the garden this spring, and the birds wero very destructive to and lettuce.
