COMMONWEALTH MILITARY COLLEGE

SYDNEY, December 12,

The Director of Military Training in New Zealand recently paid a visit to the Royal Military College at Duntroon, in the Federal territory of Australia, and inspected that institution. The college is situated on the side of a low ridge overlooking a wide plain. In appearance the Cadets are smart and soldier-like, and generally are of good physique. The director was given \to understand that since they commenced training in June last their physical development had improved very considerably. They certainly looked a healthy body of young men, and a credit to the institution. Each member occupies- a separate room. The dining room is large, airy, and well appointed. The kitchen adjoins it. The lads work strenuously during the week, with a halfholiday on Saturday.

The temporary buildings 'accommodating the Cadets, their class ,rooms, dining hall, etc., cluster round the old homestead of Duntroon. In the distance can be seen the site of the proposed Federal capital of Yassberra, which will be built on some low hills overlooking the abovementioned plain. Each Cadet occupied a separate room, in which habits of orderliness are inculcated by him being obliged to keep articles-of his equipment and kit in definite places.
