RIFLE SHOOTING.

SYDNEY, October 9.

Messrs Beeby and Carmichael, members of the Cabinet, were present at the rifle shooting to-day, which was conducted in rain and a tricky wind. In the Referee Match, 10 shots each at 600yds and 700yds, Private Loveday (Woodville, New Zealand) and Shaw. (Melbourne) each scored 92 points, but as Loveday led at the longer range he was awarded the cash prize. The men will shoot off for a trophy. Rifleman James (Napier) scored 87 points, and Ching (Lyttelton) 86 pointe. Each won'£2.
