ANNUAL MEETING OF COUNCIL. Th© annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association's Council was held on September 28, Mr C. S. Longuet presiding. ' . . • The report (already published) and balance sheet war© adopted cm the motion of Mr J.-'Hi Hancock, who mentioned that ther© were items of expenditure in connection with bowl-testing which would not bo recurring. Th© Chairman referred to the creditable manner in whieh the secretary (Mr H. F. M. Mercer) had prepared th© report. Th© historical portion was most valuable and interesting, and must have involved considerable trouble to compile. Th© report as to the election of the new council was noted, th© new council consisting of Messrs C. S. Longuet (president), M. F. Barnett (vice-presideint), J. H. Hancock (treasurer), W. Allan, J. J. Marlow, W. M'Donald, C. J. Payne, J. C. Short, and John Taylor. Mr jr A. Hopcraft was re-elected auditor. A meeting of th© h©w council then followed, at which the first business considered was th© fixing of a date for the association's tournament.—lt was pointed out that th© centres objecting to the tournament commencing on December 27 were North Otago and South Otago.—lt was moved that the tournament commence on December 27, but on Mr Barnett pointing out that Christchuirch had not come to a definite decision in th© matter, though there was a feeling against the date, it was decided that, while the motion was approved of, the question be reconsidered in the event of the Christ-church Centre forwarding an objection within 10 days. Permission was granted th© Christchurch, South Canterbury, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Southland Centres to hold Easter tournaments, subject to programmes being approved.— It was also decided to grant South Otago permission to hold a tournament on January 1,2, and 3. Applications for affiliation by the Fairlie, Park, and Kaikorai Clubs were approved, th© Park Club's attention to b© drawn to the fact that Rule 8 of the club was inconsistent with th© constitution; colours to be submitted for approval. An application from till© Alexandra Club for affiliation was also approved. The question of colours for the Mataura Club was referred to the Colours Committee, th© gentlemen to form th© committee being Messrs W; Allan and J. C. Short. . Messrs C. J. Payne, J. C. Short, and J. J. Marlow were appointed an Executive Committee. It was resolved that the council meet on th© last Tuesday in each month at 8 p.m.,subject to variation where necessity arose. Th© Dunedin Centre. forwarded " several resolutions passed by it, among..them being one that th© championship snuff-mull be treated as a challenge trophy.—The letter was received, and it wag resolved l that th© centres be informed that the council disapproved of matches being played for trophies given for advertising purposes. Some discussion, taken in private, occurred over th© appointment of a secretary, and it was finally resolved to accept the services of Mr R. Hanning. Th© president was empowered to draft a motion of appreciation of the services of Mr H. F. M. Mercer as secretary, Mr Hancock referring in. complimentary terms to the good work Mr Mercer hod don©. -
