CLUB-ROOT.
(By Primrose M'Cbnnell.)
EFFECT OF MANURING WITH ACID SUPERPHOSPHATE.
For some years all swede varieties grown on the Moumahaki Experimental Station, with the exception of Garton's Superlative, have been more* ot less affected with clubroot. As a result of experience it is concluded that the use of a highly soluble superphosphate fostered the club-root dieease to a very great extent. Many farmers in New Zealand are now arriving at the eame conclusion. In order to put the matter to a further itest, the area to be occupied by the variety swede crop at tho Moumahaki Experimental Farm was manured with three different phosphatio manures, which re applied previous to sowing the turnip seed and at right angles to the rows. Plot No. 1 received, per acre, basic superphosphate, kainit, licwt. Plot No. 2 received, per acre, superphosphate, 2icwt; kainit, Plot No. 3 received, per acre, basic slag, 3cwfc; kainit, The following table shows the result:—• .
