From an authoritative source it is to be gathered that the total quantity of- butter and cheese secured bv sale and consignment by the various firms for the current season is approximately 36.087 tons. - Gf this, butter comprises 14,028 tons, and cheese 22.059 tong._ The "actual quantity of butter and_ cheese imnorted into the United Kingdom in the past season (according to

Weddel and Co.'s Review) comprised 15,852 tons butter and 20,256 tons cheese, or a total of 36,105 tons. Thus (says the Dominion) the quantity contracted to be sold and consigned this season is practically the same, except that more cheese is to be sent, and loss butter.
