MOVEMENTS OF OCEAN-GOING STEAMERS. The lonic, from N.Z. ports (January 26), arrived at Plymouth on the 16th inst. Included in her cargo were- 19,461 carcases mutton and 57, 314 carcases lamb. ■ The Arawa, from London, arrived at Hoba.rt on tho 15th inst. She landed 99 passengers for Australia, and resumed her voyage to Wellington with 248 original passengers on the 16tfh inst. She reached Wellington on the 20th. The majority of her passengers are for Wellington. The Kaikoura, from London, via Hobart, arrived at Auckland on the 19th inst. The Clan Grant, from Auckland (January 25), arrived at London on the 18th inst. The Cranloy, from, New York, via Australian ports, arrived at Auckland on the 20th inst. The Niwaru left London for N.Z. ports on the 13th inst., Wellington being tho first port of call. The Tokomaru left London for N.Z. ports on the 13th inst., Lyttelton being the first port of call. Tho Star of Australia left London for Wellington, via Australia, on the 13th inst. The Matafcua, from Gisborne (February 16), called at Rio de Janeiro and continued her voyage for London on the 13th inst. The Rimutaka left Lyttelton for London on the 17th inst. She had a full cargo, including 10,053 bales woo! and 76,898 caroases mutton. The Ruapehu, for. The Surrey left Port Chalmers for Waitara on the 15th inst. to continue Homeward loading. She took on board at Port Chalmers, 7685 carcases of lamb, 1051 bags of beef, 80 hindquarters and 63 forequarters of beef, 207 cases of meats, and sundries. The Magdala, from New York, via Australian and northern ports, arrived at Dunedin on the 17th inst. to discharge 575 tons of oil. She left for Geelong on the 18th inst.

A RECORD CARGO. (From Our Own Correspondent.) AUCKLAND, March 20. The- New Zealand Shipping Company's large cargo steamer Kaikoura arrived at Auckland yesterday morning from London and .Capetown, bringing the largest cargo which has over loft London by one vessel for a New Zealand port. The cargo consists mainly of the usual lines of merchandise, totalling 9846 tons, and including 235 tons of explosives from. Capetown. The explosives are a portion of the cargo salved from tho steamer Aotea, which was recently stranded at Capetown. About 160 tons of the explosives will be landed at Auckland, while the balance, some 75 tons, are for Wellington. Th© bulk of the cargo is for

Auckland, 600 tons being for Wellington. The previous reocrd cargo larnded at Auckland was by the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Paparoa, which landed in March of last year 5700 tons.
