The keel plates .are being laid to-day of the battleships King George V and the Cent m ion. Their displacement is approximately 25,000 tons; horse-powetr 27,000; speed, 21 knots. Their thickest armour is 12in of Simson steel, and their ornament includes 10 13£in and 24 4ic guns. The latter will be used against destroyers. There are also three tubes for firing 21in torpedoes, at a range of 7000 yards. The officers' quarters are aft. January 17.
Lady Curzon-Howe laid the first keel plate of the King George V, Lady Parkes that of the Centurion.
