FEDERAL LABOUR PARTY

SYDNEY, May 25. 'Speaking at Narandera, Mr Fisher said that the Labour party had never doubted the ability of the British fleet to protect the coasts of Australia, but no nation had ever yet become great which deputed its defence to other people. Australians must themselves undertake £he task of defence.

Referring to the cable service of the world's news as supplied to the daily press, Mr Fisher said it was not merely inadequate, but misleading. They did not want to hear about dog fights and big dinners, but they wamted to know hor the cause of humanitr was progressing in every part of the -world. He hoped that a better cable service might be inaugyr rated and the news be soon sent over a State line of their own.

Speaking at Wodonga, Mi Parker John Moloney, the Labour member for Indi in the Federal Parliament, remarked that it had been said in some quarters that the Labour party would be blocked by the High Court. The Government would not allow anybody to stand in the way of the people's will. The day of obstruction by way of the High Court or by Legislative Councils had passed. These institutions were not in consonance with the democratic declarations of the people; and if necessary the same people woidd be appealed to to wipe out the restrictions contained in the Constitution.

At a Labour demonstration at Warrnambook a new toast. "The Glorious 13th of April," was honoured.
