OTTAWA, May 26. In replying to President Taft's fresh invitation to reopen the tariff reciprocity negotiations, the Canadian Government asks a postponement until September owing to the absence of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the Hon. Mr Fielding, and other Ministers during most of the summer. Meanwhile negotiations regarding trade agreements similar to that conducted with France are proceeding with Italy and Belgium, and are likely to be successful at an early date.
