BRISBANE, March 21. Numbers of people are being rescued from their homes by boats. At Charleville three men attempted to cross the river in a boat, but lost the beat. They are now clinging to tree tops, and are in a perilous position. A man named Nunn was drowned at Bajool. March 23. Rain has ceased, and the floods in Northern Queensland are abating. The floods continue to recede. Several persons who had to take refuge in trees have been rescued. March 24. A man named Brushaber was drowned in the flood waters of the Wax'rego River. ROCKHAMPTON, March 25. The backwater is coming down, and the river is again rising. The railway service is disorganised, and long stretches of country are inundated.
