Senator Gallinger, in introducing a bill to incorporate a Rockefeller foundation in the district o( Columbia, explained that Mr Rockefeller had already given away 52,000,0000d01. He seeks a. method of disposing of his fortune to benefit mankind. The aim of the foundation is to promote the well-being of the people of the United States and its posseesions abroad, the dissemination of knowledge, and the relief of suffering.

The foundation will be the great clearing-house of humanitarian effort throughout the world, and will be open to receive contributions from all philanthropists.
