turo has divided the various countries into geographical zones in order to facilitate the collection of statistics. The northern zone includes North "America, Europe, and Asiatic Russia, the central zone includes Mexico, Central 'America, North Africa, and Asia, and the Southern zone includes the rest of America, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Provisional estimates give the yield or corn for 1909-li3 in the Argentine as 42,785,000 quintals, in Australia as 22,317,000, Chili 6,400,000, and Uruguay 2,610,000. COMMERCIAL CABLEGRAMS. LONDON, January 19. Wheat: The American visible supply is £5,962,000 bushels. At t3sa taMciw sales 657 casks were offered and 296 eold. Prices showed 3d decline. January 20. The wheat market £a very dull. Australian, per sailers, February shipment, is oflfered at 40s, and per steamers at 40s 6d. January 21. The Bank of England returns show the Ttock of gold coin and bullion to be £35,502,000; reserve, £26,911,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 50.75. The ne*es in circulation total £28.004,000: public deposits, £11,392,000; other deposit*, £4-1,490,000 ; Government securities, £14,706,000; and other securities, £39,377,000: The bank rate of discount is 3£ per cent. Short loans are discounted at 2| per •»ent., and three months bills irr London at i 15-16 per cent. Consols are quoted at £B2 15s. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United- Kingdom is 2,675,000 quarters, and for the Continent 765,000 quarters. The Atlantic shipments were 140,000 quarters, and the Pacific 15,000 quarters.-
