NEW YORK, Januairy 5.

Owing to Mr T. E. Ryan, a prominent financier, retiring, Mr Pierpont Morgan and his associates have acquired the control of the Morton Trust and the Fifth Avenue Banking Companies, which will be consolidated with the Guarantee Company of New York. Mr Morgan intends that the merger shall likewise include the Bankers' Trust Company, thus forming the largest trust company in the United States.

The American press, discussing Mr Pierpont Morgan's stupendous control of capital, declares that the total has now reached £600,000,000.
