the evidence the coroner said it had come out that a rope was missing in deceased's room, but there was ones in all tha other rooms, and used as a fire-escape, but it had been proved that the borough inspector was quite satisfied with the escapes in case of fire. Probably after this he would be more strict regarding the requirements. The verdict was that Ker's death resulted from suffocation, but that there was no evidence to show whether the fire was 1 accidenta.l or otherwise.
