PRESENTATION TO THE REV. G. W. HARDING.
On Labour Day opportunity was taken to present the Rev. G. W. H. Harding with a framed illuminated address, to mark the culmination of nearly seven years' work as vicar of St. Martin's Church, North-East Valley. Quite a large and enthusiastic representation of partehioncrs journeyed to Waikouaiti to take part in the completion, of the ceremony, which was begun come weeks ago, when the rev. gentleman was presented with a purse of sovereigns before his departure from the North-East Valley to assume the charge at Waikouaiti. Th« visitors were received and entertained by the Rev. Mr and Mrs Harding, and spent a very enjoyable day. Mr Hall, parish churchwarden, presented the address, and expressions of goodwill were conveyed by several members of the deputation. The address, which had a very pleasing colour effect, with a painting of the Valley Church, contained the ' following inscription :: — '• llev. and Dear Sir,— On the occasion of your departure from the North-East Valley, after a period of nearly seven years as vicar, we desire to express our deep admiration of the work undertaken by you and Mrs Harding in the many departments connected with our church. We cannot here fully express our appreciation for all your services, but we feel sure that your self-sacrificing examples, and your readiness at all times to further the work of our Lord in this little corner of ll is greafc Church, or (o help any individual member who wished for comfort or advice, will 1 aye fasting effects on all who have had the privilege of your personal acquaintance. We pray that your labours may be abundantly bl^sseJ, and that you may both be loni? spared to 'onfinue the work you love so well. On Ix-haif of the parishioners, we sign ourselves— A E.
