COLD SNAP IN NELSON. NELSON, January 16.

After heavy overnight rain, causing freshets in the rivers, a cold snap set in last evening, the glaes falling to 44deg. To-day the weather is more like earlywinter than summer. The glass is a little over 50deg. in the shade. Owing to the uncertain weather, the harvest is being interfered with, while hop-picking will be three weeks late, and the early crops not abundant. SNOW AND RAIN AT CARTERTON. CARTERTON, January 16. The temperature lias fallen very low. There is snow on the mountains, and the weather is vary wet.
