ANSWERS AND MESSAGES.
Eumelinz desires to thank Alpha, Marj'oirie, Goldie, and Eve for cards of Christmas and New Year greeting, and to heartily reciprocate their kindly wishes. . Lex and Val will please accept love and warm tbanksi for the delightful book of "Heart Melodies.' The selection is very fine, and the thoughtful friendship of the givers an added charm." Sweetbriak, ha.ving forbidden, too explicit thanks for her generous choice of remembrance, must read much deep appreciation into the simple words, "Most loving thanks, dear." As to her questions: (1) I am glad to say that Boy Friend had a •really nice country holiday, and' assured me he felt nruch better for it. Needless, then, to say that Girl Friend, too, felt every ounce of good from that same holiday. (2) I should think that £15 a year would! dress a sensible little maid quite comfortably, and nicely, too. Alpha and Nan. — "May .the new year bring you new luck," i EmmeHne's warm wisfi to these Wo friends. At the same time she thanks- Alpha, for the pleasantest of letters, and finds the colour scheme of those dream baskets of flowers so beautiful that there is quite a flower lover's pangin renunciation. Also, she begs for some compensation, to be explained by letter. The 'roses- named are among Emmeline's first favourites also, especially Fran Karl Druschki, who lends herself so graciously to cutting. Alys. — The explanation which shows Emmeline that she gave thanks in the wrong direction for a, certain plant of "ribbonwood" comes, indeed, somewhat late. But if the real sender reads these lines, let him (or h«r) be assured the gift and the thought was fully appreciated. And Aly-e may be sure that Emoneline's busy life has taught hex to fully understand the difficulty of finding time for the right things at the right time — to which assurance she adds kind regards and good wishes. W. and X V.— Letter posted herewith (at least, I hope so) ; but, io make "assurance doubly sure," accept very sincere andi kindly wishes for a year rich in, inward peace and outward prosperity. Native Fehn\ — Emmeline thanks this very kindly andi loyal member of the Guild of Unknown Friends for a letter, which will be quoted from when the next postbag of general interest is made up. Meanwhile she thanks Native Fern for her kind wishes and appreciation, and passes- on to the Guild of Unknown. Friends and the members of C.C.C. hearty New Year greetings and all good wishes from Native Fern. Inconntt.— To you, dear and long-esteemed friend of club and guild, Emmeline sends sincere love and heartiest New Year greetings.
