ENTERTAINMENT AT ROCK AND PILLAR.
The patients et the Rook and Pillar Sanatorium spent an enjoyable evening on Monday, December 28, which took the form of an open-air concert. Over 150 people from Middiemarch and the surrounding district turned out to show their sympathy with the function. .^Musical items .were rendered by several ladies and gentlejnen from the district and by visitors from town. Mr Kirkland greatly pleased the company with songs by Melba on his gramophone. At the request of Dr Rosa Collifi, the Middlemarch Brass Band, under Uij <il>le leadership of Mr Matheson, turned put in force and rendered several selec:lcn«, much to the delight of all. The chair wr.s taken by the Bey. W. T. Todd. UTuc \crandah. on which the patients were S^ate-d was prettily decorated with evergreen- -i.id Chinese lanterns, and altogether & m >=• enjoyable evening was spent. At conclusion three hearty cheers were Vgrvan for Dr Collier, who had worked up x£e concert and .secured the performers, $6d a vote of thanks was passed to those v&kO had contributed items.
