RAILWAY HOLIDAY TRAFFIC.
Ths railway officials had an exceedingly ibysy time on Friday, as 6330 outward pas©hgers were dealt with. Following are tpe details : — North lines, 3600— Principal stations: Q&naru 350, Christohurch 100 Tiaiaru 70, P&lmerston 100, Waikouaiti 1100 PuketiraSri 250, Seacliff 100, Warrington 120, Port Chalmers and suburbans 600, Waitati 160, Purakanui 170, Evansdale 130. feouth lines, 1230 — Principal stations: Inyeroargill 180, "Henley 130, Milton 100, Mosgiel and suburbans 500. Branch lines, 500 — Principal stations: Middlemarch 200, Out ram 60. Lawrence 70.
Two American black bears will be added to the Wellington zoological collection at Newtown Park. They are the gift of Dr Hornaday, of the New* York Zoological Gardens, and are expected to arrive in March next. The blind deer in tho Wellington Botanical Gardens has also been giv«n to Newtown Park.
