TAPANUI SHOW.

(From Qjte Own Correspondent.) TAPANUI, December 11. Committee of Management — Messrs W. H. Lusk, jun. (president), D. Fleming (vice-presi-dent), G. Turnbull, W. Cullen, W. Haugh, G. H. Stewart, A. M'lntyre, H. How»t, S. Fleming, John Fleming, Jemes Edgar, R. A. Rodger, J. B. Sim, George Stuart, O. R. Throp, and W. R. Quin (secretary and treasurer). 4 The weather interfered with the success of the Tapanui show to-day. The morning Mas showery and threatening, and during the afternoon some heavy ehowers fell. At 5 o'clock, just when the most interesting events were commencing, a cold southwester and heavy rain came along. The gathering had to be held on the racecourse this y«av on a-ccoixtit of the club's ground being under cultivation, and in a way tho change was fortunate as the grand stand and shelter trees proved most welcome. Notwithstanding the weather, the show was a most successful one, and the attendance was well up to the usual standard. Entries all through were in excess of last year. Cattle, as usual, w«re poorly represented, and little- interest was taken in this section. The sheep pens were fairly well filled, and trossbreds made a good show. Fat cheep were forward in fair numbers, and the quality was excellent. Horses all through were "the feature of the show, and some fine rings were shown. In draughts all ih-c local breeders were to the fore. Mr .7. R. Mackenzie's Baron Bold carried all hefoie him. The ring of three-year-olds were a splendid lot, and the same applies to the yearlings, both colts and fillies. Nearly all the awards went to C'rookston breeders. Light and harness hordes were ■strongly represented, and Mr H. Acton Adams's chestnut was the moct successful horse of the day. winning against lar^e ring*. The same owner had an attracthe exhibit in the single buggy class, beating a ring of 11. The special classes generally filled well, and there were good entries in the competition*. In the produce room the display was an excellent one, and the judge deck: ed the quality to be exceedingly good. The cool day favoured the butter-makers, who were again strongly in evidence. Bread and cakes made a show in themfiehes, and many new exhibitors took a hand. Everything worked very smoothly, and the general arrangements were good, the secretary (Mr W. R. Quin) carrying out his duties in first-class style. The' officials all worked well with an energetic president at their head. During the afternoon there were three M.P.'s on the ground— Me-'srs Anderson (Mataura), Scott (Tijaneka), and Malcolm (Clutha). Appended is the detailed prize-list: —
