OAMARU PRESBYTERY.

The Oamaru Presbytery on Tuesday adopted a motion expressing gratification at the improved no-license vote at the recent local option poll, and commending temperance workers for their labours ana zeal.

The Presbytery agreed to ask the Church Board of Property to purchase a site for a church on the new Kauroo Hill Settlement, shortly to bo offered for selection. A gentleman, who desires to remain anonymous, has offered the Presbytery the sum of £200, or a sum equal to the siifiterrtatdon final dividend, for an agent, who should devote himself for one year to work among the young, particularly in connection with the Sunday schools, the Christian Endeavour societies, and Bible classes in the district, and also to the instruction of Sunday school t«aclners in school methods. The donor desires also that the agent shall do evangelistic work, if possible, in outlying districts, and disseminate Christian literature. The Presbytery accepted the, offer with a cordial expression of gratitude and appreciation, and adopted the report of the committee, that one month be devoted by the agent to each change in the Presbytery, and. referred the matter back to the committee to prosecute inquiries and report.
