I Tiie monthly meeting of the Committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was lield on Thursday, and attended by Messrs E. F. Dutbie {president, in the chair), J. Angus, W. Souter, A. Tcdd, A. Fleming, J. W. Blair, J. Elliott, G. H: MacEwan, J. A. J. Roes, J. Gow, W. J. Charters, J. Nimmo, J. Patrick, T. Ritchie, J. "Macandrew, G. H. Gilroy, D. Murray* E. Bowler, and W. Grey. Apologies were received from Messrs F. Freeman, R. Aotbn-Adams, T. E Jefcoate, A, M'Farlane, and A.. Johnson. The Chairman of the Grounds Committee .reported that the large ring at Taiiuna Park had been enlarged, the surface of the ground top-dressed and levelled, and a eloping bank raised .juet outside toe ring to enable the public to have a good view of the events taking place in, the show ground. He also reported that the ground at the north-east end of the park had been cleared, levelled, and sown down in grass, with a view to affording better accommodation for exhibits of sheep at the summer show, and that various details were being carried out on the chow ground which should be much appreciated by exhibitors generally. The report was received with approval. The schedule and programme for the winter show of 1909 was carefully gone into and revised. The alterations made should tend to further popularise the winter carnival of the society. The question of the society taking over the control of the annual ram and ewe fair, which is held- about the end of March, was carefully consdiered, and vari~ ous details gone into. It was resolved to confer with the Dunedin Stock Agents' Association before making final arrangements. It was decided that the gold medal presented by Mr R. J. Dagg, Masterton, be awarded to the champion draught stallion at the coming summer show. For the convenience of exhibitors of dairy catfle. it was resolved that cows entered fox the milking competition be on the ground and milked on Thursday, November 26, at 4 p.m., instead of Wednesday, November 25, the tests to be made next morning. Accounts amounting to £70 5s 2d were passed for payment. A large amount of detail work was carefully dealt with by the committee, and various details arranged in connection with the coming summer show. The Secretary reported that numerous applications for programmes of the summer ahdw had been made, and, judging by reports, the show, which is to be held at Tahuna Park on November 26 and 27, promisee to bo more than usually successful.
