WESTLAND.
(Tjton Ou* Owk CoaaisyoHnxxT.) GREYMOUTH. October 2*. On 4he West Coast the election campaign " i 3 now in full swing. In Westland Messrs T. E. Seddon ,-yid H. L. Michel are very active, addressing as many as three and four meetings per day. At Mr Seddon's inaugural address at Hokitika on Thursday night the Michelites attended in force, with the result tha* there was a continual uproar. It is admitted, however, that the younjf M.P. came out of the ordeal very well and has scored as the result thereof. Both candidates are staunoh supporters of the Government, the only clevajye being that Mr Seddon declares himself a leaseholder, though he does not object *to the freehold, while Mr Michel favours the optional tenure. The most interesting development of this week has been the publication of a telegram from Sir Joseph* Ward accepting Mr Ssddon as the Government nominee, and wishing him every j»ucI cess. The election is being conducted very j energetically, but hitter feeling ie beginning to creep in. Present indentions are favourable to the return of the sitting member. "" i
