SUPPOSED MURDER
BRISBANE, October 19; Mr J. Muir, a junior clerk at the Gayudah branch of the Commercial Banking Company, of Sydney, was found shot dead at the back oi the premises last night. A railway porter, passing the bank, heard a 6ound of the breakage of glass, and summoned the police, who discovered Muir's body on the floor. There are iadications that burglars tampered with but failed to open the safes. The bank is a small wooden building. Muir was a youth of 18, and only recently went to Gayudah. The manager was temporarily absent, and Muir took his place, sleeping at the bank. He left his boarding-house to go to the bank a few minutes before the shot was heard. It is believed that a burglar, who was hiding in the bank, shot Muir when the latter was entering his bedroom. A strange hat and a broken lamp were lying near the body, which bore four revolver wounds. The man who is suspected has disappeared.
