August 20. — Like other centres, we had cur share of the rough weather a few weeks ago, but the conditions might, have been, worse. I School Concert.— l hear there is going to ; be a concert in aid of the schooL funds i some time next month. It is to be hoped the promoters' efforts will be successful in having a bumper house. There are several I much-needed improvements to be effected.' about- the glebe— improvements which, ought' to have been carried out last summer. seeing the committee have got a very sub1 stantial grant towards the item fencing ' it « to t>e hoped, th© glebe wifl soon ' be closed in. with a good and serviceable fence. Contractorson Wilden The Falls, and Keppooh estates have had their hands full in order to get through with their aeveral contracts in decent time. I Roads.— When fine weather sets in it i« to Be hoped the county officials will lose i no time in attending to the wretched state of the roads, especially deep holes on the flat towards the old homestead Sickness.-Mr 0. Smaill has had the mi*, fortune to overstrain himself, and has had to go into the Dunedin Hospital for treatment. I hear he has to undergo an operation. It w to be hoped the patient will make a speedy recovery.
