Byars, ch^-man in * few remarks thanked those present for their help and said that when the trees grew up the children who came to school there would appreciate the shelter and the shade. Concert.— A most successful concert was held by the School Committee here on the14th insr. There was a record attendance and Mr R. Byars (chairman) presided. Recitations were given by Messrs Norman Gorston, Arthur Bellew, W. Williams, M'Clymont, and ft. M'Kay. Miss M'Muir played twc violin. solos. A heartyvote of thanks was passed to the performers, several of whom gave more than one item, and the kindness of the ladies who provided the supper being also recognised. Dancing was then indulged in, and an enjoyable time spent. The proceeds amounted tc £11. which go to defray the expenses incurred on Arbor Day. Lambs. — Lambs are to be seen sportimr about on some of the farms in Orama. Euchre.— The euchre parties held by tha Hall Committee ptill continue to flourish, but are mainly patronised by the sterner sex, ladies being conspicuous by their absence, the weather not being lor tempting. Band of Hope. — The monthly meeting of the Band of Hope was held in the church on the 21st inst. Mr John Dunn presided. Mr John M'Gibbon spoke on the liquor question, and illustrated the effects of alcohol on the human system. Recitations were given by Misses Pope, Yorston, Stewart, and Beilews, and Masters M'llroy and Wadsworth, solos by Misses Dunn, and a dialogue by Misses Walker and Key and Messrs Dunn and M'Kay. There was only a fair attendance.
