WANGANUI v. HAWKE'S BAY. WANGANUI, August 20.

This afternoon the Wanganui hockey representative team defeated Hawke's Bay by 1- goal to nil. Despite the recent rain the Recreation Ground was in good, order, and a fast game was witnessed by nearly a thousand spectators. The local team commenced to attack, but hard hitting on both sides kept the game opera and interesting. The spell ended without a score. In the second half Wanganui had rather the advantage, but erratic shooting prevented scoring. A good, dribbling rush by Coe and a sharp pass to Thompson resulted in the only score during the game. Mr Wakely refereed satisfactorily.
