SALE OF THE KARTIGI ESTATE.
Messrs Dalgety and Co. (Ltd.) report haying sold on aocount of Messrs M'Kenzie and M'Lemwm, the homestead block aud cortege block, comprising about 3000 aore3 of their Kartigi Estate, to Messrs A. and F. LeCren, of Timaru. The property was purchased last year by bhe present owners from Mr James Ross for the purpose of reselling m smaller areas, and the only portion now remaining is the Palmerston block, of about 800 aores, particulars of which are given below. The homestead is situated about 10 miles from Paimerston, and between the Shag Point and Kart'gi Railway Stations. It is beautifuly situated, close to the Kartigi Beach, while the whole property has a frontage of three miles to the sea, and also to the main road and railway line. The whole of the land faces the sun, and rise 3 m easy ridges of deep, rich soil, capable of growing heavy orops of either wheat or cats. In the past the land has proved its fattening qualities, for the whole of the surplus stock, inoluding ewes, wethers, lambs, and cattle were sent off the plaoe as fats, and always realised top market rates .The whole property is at present carrying about 8000 sheep, 150 head of cattle, and 30 horses. From 300 acres a heavy crop 6f oats was cut this year, and 400 acres are iv turnips . and rape. The stock include about 500 stud Border Leicester sheep, and 100 head of pure bred polled Angus cattle, which are the result of careful selection by the late owner (Mr James Ross), whose name is a sufficient guarantee that the flock and herd, as well aa the stud, are of the best description. For several years Mr Ross has had a steady sale for his yearling polled Augus bulls to buyers m the North Island, to whom several have been shipped this season. The clearing sale of sheep, horse*, cattle, and implements will be held on the 21st May.
