It is stated that hawkers attend the saies in Wellington and purchase for two or three shillings a sack of oysters absolutely unfit for human food at a time when good ovstera are bringing 18s or more per sack. The bad oysters are immediately taken up to the country towns and hawked round at what might be a reasonable price if they were good, but both the price and the" oysters prove very high under the circumstances.
