CITY COUNCIL REPORTS.

The following is a summary of a report to be submitted at Wednesday evening's meeting of the City Council: — The Electric Power and Lighting Cc-m-mittee recommends that authority be granted the electrical engineer to erect a coach shed on the allotment belonging ta Mrs Somers, at Berwick, estimated cost not to exceed £15 for material and £5 for labour, arrangements having been made for ground to be leased at 1b per annum; that the city electrical engineer be authorised to fit up the new store and test room in Cumberland street, estimated cost £110. Quotations have been made for t.he supply of electrical energy as follow: — The Milburn Lime and Cement Co. (Ltd.), for lighting at cement works, as per clause 5, form "A. ' Messrs Sargood, Son, end Ewen, amendment to previous offer by substituting " The quantity to be consumed is not to equal less than £114 per annum" instead of £9 10s per month. Messrs J. M'Gregor and Co., for power to Otago Foundry as follows: — "0.35 of a penny on No. 1 meter and ljd on No. 2 meter, ' and No. 2 eter to record between 3 pm. and 7 p.m. for five months in the year ; J\ r o. 1 meter to record during all other hours of the year, and that a minimum use on No. 1 meter be guaranteed of an average of 25 h.p. of £80 per annum," subject to proposed adjustment of charges. Messrs Watson, Rhodes, and Son for power from tramway main, Anderson's Bay road, in terms of electrical engineer's report. Authority has been granted for the electrical engineer s staff at Waipori to place all foundation piers for re-erection of the barracks at Waipori. The Finance Committee recommends that debentures having a currency as under and bearing interest at the rate of 4 per cent, per annum be issued for the following authorised loans: — Gasworks extension loan of £50,000, currency 21 years; purchase of Dunedin Suburban Gas Company's undertaking £14,000, currency 25 years; further Waipori loan £50,000, currency to March 1, 1922; and that the town clerk be instructed to negotiats and complete on these terms, prepsuatorj to the issue of the debentures.
