THE DUNEDIN HOSPITAL.
THE NEW PAVILION OPENED. The ceremony of formally opening tho new pavilion on the southern portion of tho Hospital grounds was. performed on Tues-' •day, 10th inst., by his Excellency Lord) Plunket. The big hall waa draped with, bunting and crowded with a representative gathering. The rails and staircases at the back . were occupied %y the nurses and* medical students. His Excellency and! Lady Plunket entered, accompanied by tho Mayor (Mr Loudon) and Mrs Loudon, Sir James Mills, Mr Solomon, K.C., and Mrs Solomon, and Mr P. Miller. The viceregal party were welcomed with hearty cheers, and took their place upon the daisMr S. Solomon (chairman of the Hos> pital Trustees), after giving a brief outline of the movement which resulted in the building of the new pavilion, asked his Excellency to declare it open for the use of patients. His Excellency, aftoi? delivering a short address, complied with' the request. Dr W. Marshall Macdonakt (on behalf of the medical staff). Mr P. Miller (ex-chairman), and the Mayor of Dunedin (Mr Loudon) aleo spoke. Thr»»a cheers were given for Lord and Lady Plunket, who were afterwards shown over • the new pavilion by Mr Solomon.
