OTAGO CRICKET ASSOCIATION.
The weekly meeting of the Otago Orjcket Association was held on Friday evening. There was a good attendance, Mr C R. Smith occupying the chair. Apologies for ateenra weje received from Messrs M'Lean and Campbell. s Before commencing the business of tho evening the Chairman eaid he was glad to wecoxne Mr Wilson, who had been north with the Otago team. He regretted that Mr Wilson had not brought -hack with, him the Plunket Shield, bufc all would reoognise 'that the team had don" its best and; acquitted itself as well as could b"e expected". He hoped that the reverses suffered by the team would- cause a revival of enthusiasm among first-grade cricketers, so that the shield- 1 might ■ yet come co Otago. ■ , Bettera were received from the secretaries of the St. Martin's and Grange Clubs regarding the breaking open of the Oxioha Club's navilkm on an occasion when tbosi tearoa pfayed upon the Opoho. ground, and stating tnat their teams were not responsible *f or .the -damage, which, was probably 4one by oijlsftlgerl. the Grange Club appeared before th-i association, and bore out the . statements contained in his secretary's letter. — Received, The Secretary^ of the Cariebrook Cluo wrote complaining of the state of the wicket provided by the Dunodin Club for the_ Second Grade , match, "Dunedin No. 1 v. Carisbrook D.— Referred to Dunedin Club. A member "of the Otago. team recently on tour applied for wages lost whilst absent from Dunedin with the team .-^-Granted. * Mr- W. M. .Maclean wrote tendering his resignation as a member of the association, as he found it necessary to under take a trip to England- in the interests of his businea?. — Accepted with regret. The Secretary of Sit. Martin's Club wrote apologising, and stating that he would be ! unable to attend a meeting of secretaries. — i Received. ' - i The statement of receipts and expenditure for the Second Grad representative match ! web laid on the table, showing, that the takings for the two days were £12 17s 9d and the expenditure in connection with the match £8 16s, leaving a profit of £4 Is 9d. The statement of expenses for the northern tour, which was laid upon the table, showed that the trip cost the association £199 7s 3d. The Chairman stated that in his opmion "the tour had' been carried oufc in a very satisfactory manner. — It was de cided that the various associations at Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland be written to and thanked for their kindness to the Otago team when on tour.
