OTAGO FARMERS' HORSE BAZAAR.

The Otago Farmers' Co-operative AasociaI tion reports: —We held our first horse sale of I 1908 in our Bazaar on Saturday last. There was a fairly strong muster of farmers, and j the bulk of the town carrier contingent was , ! present, also a number of traders from a distance Butchers, bakers, and expressmen wero strongly represented, owing, no doubt, I to the fact that a number of young mares and geldings suitable for their requirements i were advertised to be sold on account of the '• well-known vendors, Messrs Hoult and Sons, lof Feilding, who have for a good many I years paid periodical visits to Dunedin with j horses., excellently suited for the requirements of <he city. The consignment offered on ' Saturday fully maintained the standard of quality of any of their previous shipments. Proof of this was very apparent from the confidence exhibited by buyers in bidding keenly for each and every horse that came before the auctioneer, resulting in a complete clearance of the shipment (with the exception d one young gelding) at very satisfactory prices. Other consignments came from Tapanui, Milton, Taieri, Palmorston, Waitati, Peninsula, ' and a few were locals. The sale on the who'e was one of the best we have had for some time. There is a capital 4emand for y?unß and sound, olifty cart mares and geldings, therefore owners having any to dispose of need have no hesitation in sending them m within the next few weeks, as the market is fairly animated at present. Our entry totalled 52, comprising cart mares and geldings, vannera, spring-carters, expressers, buggy and hackney horses. We quote: — Good useful draught marea and geldings (young and sound), from £35 to £45; lighter sorts and older, £23 to £33; heavy lorry pairs, ' from £&) to' £100; useful plough mares and geldings, £30 to £40; pedigree Clydesdale maresT to £15O 5 g°od sorts of Clydesda.e j mares, suitable for. stud purposes and general
