DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows: —We held our weekly sale 1 on Saturday last, when about 50 hoises were offered, of which a large percentage were draughts. Amongst these were a lot of goodx useful sorts, ■ which Eold readily at satisfactory prices. There was a large attendance of the public, town, ooniaractors being well represented, also country buyers desirous of supplying their wants for the approaching harvest, consequently bidding was keener and prices better than they have been for several ■weeks past. The chief attraction of the sale j was the consignment from Mr Thomas Taylor (Wairunu),< «ir.d every one of his five horses • changed hand' 9at prices ranging up to £39. With one or two exceptions all the country consignments found new owners at good values. A number of light harness sorts were disposed of at satisfactory prices. Taken all through, Saturday's auction was most satisfactory, .and prices showed a decided hardening on late rates. We quote: Superior young draught geldinga at from £45 to £50; extra good dlo (prize-winners), ait from £50 to £55; superior young draught mares, ait frooni £50 to £60; medium draught maxes and geldings, at from £30 to £40; aged do, at from £15 to £20; well-matched carriage pairs, at from £70 to £100; strong spring-van horses, at from £25 to £30; nailk-oart and butchers' order-cart horses, at from £18 to £25; light hacks, at from £8 to £13; extra good hacks and harness horses, at from £13 to £25; - weedy and aged do, at from £5 to £7.
