WAIHOLA
Lake \Y aiho la,
Minii' 18 miles south of Dunedin. is ono
of the best known shooting lake* in Otago. Like some of the other lakes of the colony, it suffers from being 100 near to close settlement, and tho number and variety of water-fowl to be found on its waters and shores varies considerably. In a favourable season, when a severe winter inland forces water-fowl to seek food in its warmer brakish waters, large numbers of grey ducks, swans, pukeko. and a few teal frequent it, and number'- of those waterfowl may also be found on its chores and in the streams and watercourse-., -wamp*-. and pools that surround it. Lake Waipori, adjoining this lake, al-o affords good all-round shooting in favourable seasons, particularly after a flood, when grain, worms, grubs, and other wild fowl food is washed into its waters. On such occasions ducks frequent it in ttoueands.
