DRAUGHTS ITEMS.
Otago Club. — The attendances at the elufk have maintained a good average, in spit** of the beautiful weather we have been enjoying. At last Saturday's meeting, howevei, it was decided to observe the usual xeceßS during the holiday period. The club, will therefore be closed for three weeks-* December 28, and January 4 and 11, resuming again on- January 18. Members and othert will please note. Mr J. M. Roberts, draughts editor of Th« People, has despatched across the "herrinc. pond" » challenge for a match by correspond dence of fifty to one hundred 1 a-side, tb« players to contest four games each, from th* two-move " balloted openings.
